Just as sakura-pattern kimonos are perfect for spring, there are kimono patterns that are traditionally suited to each season.

Why do innocent children look especially adorable when dressed in traditional clothing?

Boys especially seem to remember their wish to be samurai when dressed in kimonos. Maybe it’s in their DNA.

In Japan, the term “Mikaeri Bijin” describes a beautiful lady looking back. The pose highlights her kimono, obi, and hairstyle in a single frame, creating a truly striking image.

Who says you can’t wear ruffles and pearls with kimono? You’ll often see young people expressing themselves with unique and original styles.

A chic kimono is truly elegant. Its graceful appearance and the art of wearing it are pleasures that can be savored more as you gain ages.

Introduction

We understand why kimonos hold such a strong fascination for guests from overseas.
For us Japanese as well, wearing a kimono is an experience that stirs something within. When we wrap ourselves in a beautifully crafted kimono, our posture naturally straightens, our mind feels calm, and we are reminded—sometimes with a bit of surprise—of how well the kimono suits us. It feels similar to stepping out of the city and into untouched nature, rediscovering a quiet beauty we may have forgotten.

The kimono is an important part of Japanese culture, a tradition carefully passed down through generations.

We would be delighted for our guests to feel this for themselves. Wearing an authentic, high-quality kimono, dressed by a professional kimono stylist, and strolling through the city—perhaps enjoying a rickshaw ride or capturing special photos—will surely become more than just a memory of your trip to Japan.

The Tradition of Kimono

These days, very few people wear kimonos on a daily basis. For most Japanese, kimonos are reserved for special occasions, such as coming-of-age ceremonies, weddings, and festivals.

Those who try wearing a kimono are often surprised at how much effort is involved in putting it on correctly. It’s easy to see why everyday clothing has shifted to Western styles—much more convenient and practical.

Yet when you see someone wearing a kimono on the street, even casually, it’s impossible not to feel a sense of pride. Its beauty exists in a way that is entirely different from modern convenience and efficiency—a quiet, timeless elegance that continues to captivate.

The Difficulty of Kimono

Kimonos come with many traditional rules—what patterns and fabrics to wear in certain seasons and occasions, how to tie an obi, and so on. In Japan, there’s even a playful term, the “Kimono Police,” for seasoned experts who strictly correct anyone not wearing their kimono properly.

However, this strictness is gradually relaxing today and more flexible approach is emerging—one that embraces casual and modern styles, allows personal expression, and encourages everyone, especially young people, to enjoy wearing kimonos in their own way.

For Future Generations

Not just in Japan, but when traveling around the world, haven’t you ever seen children wearing traditional clothing and been so charmed that you couldn’t help smiling?

We believe that the beauty of traditions passed down from parent to child, across generations, is truly irreplaceable. Our hope is that these customs will be known, experienced, appreciated, and loved by people everywhere, so they can continue to thrive for many years to come.
